Investigators are looking into the cause of an explosion and fire at the Velco substation in Pittsford.
The incident happened on Monday evening, according to a post from the Pittsford Fire Department on Facebook.
The Pittsford Fire Department responded to the scene, where Velco employees were already present. Both parties determined the facility needed to be powered down before safely extinguishing the fire. Firefighters cleared the scene by 11:30 p.m.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown. Velco expressed gratitude for the fire department’s quick response and ongoing partnership.
